September 27th, 2016, Bruce Springsteen releases his autobiography, “Born to Run.” Now, Bruce started writing this immediately following playing halftime at the Super Bowl in 2009. It took seven years of constant writing and rewriting to get it just the way he wanted it, very similar to his songwriting process. Bruce goes back to his early days growing up in Freehold, New Jersey. He includes things about the mental health and alcoholism struggles his Father went through. He takes us through the spark of seeing Elvis Presley on TV and being inspired from that to pursue the career that he has for all these years. He also talks about the early days playing in the bars in New Jersey, right up on through the E Street Band and so much more. If you’re a fan, it is a must read.
Today in 2007, Van Halen kick off a tour in Charlotte, North Carolina that features the first time David Lee Roth is back with the band since 1985. And it’s Alex and Eddie and newest member of Van Halen on his first tour of the band, 16-year-old Wolfgang on bass.
Today in 1997, INXS play their final concert with singer Michael Hutchence. He’s found dead in his hotel room 2 months later. The final song they perform at this concert, “Suicide Blonde.”
Today in 1986, The Beatles returned to the charts with “Twist and Shout” after its inclusion in the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.”
Also today in 1986, a sad day, we lose bassist from Metallica Cliff Burton in a bus accident. They are on the “Master of Puppets” tour when he passes.

Born today in 1947, Marvin Lee Aday, who you might know better as the late Meat Loaf. and born today in 1944, not just a member of The Guess Who, but also Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Randy Bachman.
