September 14th, 1993. Meat Loaf is back. 16 years after his monster hit album, “Bat Out of Hell”, he’s got Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell." Once again, he teams up with songwriter Jim Steinman to come up with the tunes. They have a big hit with “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)”, which also makes its rounds on MTV.
Today in 1979 at the Toronto Film Festival, the movie Quadrophenia premieres. Now this is based upon the 1973 album from the band “Quadrophenia”, which was a rock opera about growing up mod in London.
Today in 1974, Eric Clapton goes to #1 on the charts with “I Shot the Sheriff.” Of course, this is a song Bob Marley wrote that Eric very successfully covered.
And then as we take a look at the calendar, we find a rock birthday on it. Born today in 1949, the late guitarist from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Steve Gaines, who was born in Missouri, but raised in Oklahoma.
