From Chicago To Duval Forever “Da Coach”

Winning coach: Mike Ditka led the Chicago Bears to a dominating season in 1985 and a victory in Super Bowl XX. (John Biever/Sports Illustrated via Getty Ima)

Today is a sad day for football fans all over the world, especially me as a Chicago Bears fan.

Mike Ditka, former NFL player and Coach of my beloved Chicago Bears, has passed away at the age of 86. Known as “Da Coach” he was more than an iconic Coach to my hometown team, but he was also part of my childhood as I was born into being a Bears fan watching the games with my grandfather and uncle.

As I got older, I went to Chicago Bears games after he departed and every time Coach Ditka was mentioned the crowd would roar as they paid respect to a man who brought the city their first Super Bowl trophy in 1985.

...and of course The “Super Bowl Shuffle”

Even as an analyst and gave predictions against other teams including that “OTHER” team from Wisconsin “Da Coach” would always choose Chicago especially when we played that “OTHER” team from Wisconsin this weekend.

Coach Ditka was Chicago and no matter what city I visited or even reside I will always represent the Chicago Bears and be in a “Chicago State of Mind.”

Well, done “Iron Mike” take your rest.

Bear Down from Duval….
