The Associated Press reported that the windows may not do what they are intended to when the window hits an obstruction, violating the federal power window safety standards, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

If the system does not work as expected, a person could be pinched by the window. An employee discovered the issue in August, Reuters reported.

Certain vehicles of the following models are affected by the recall:

  • 2017 to 2022 Model 3 sedans.
  • 2020 to 2021 Model Y SUVs.
  • 2021 to 2022 Model S sedans.
  • 2021 to 2022 Model X SUVs.

The issue will be corrected by an online software update, the AP reported.

Vehicles produced starting Sept. 13 will have the newest software, while current owners will get letters informing them of the issue starting Nov. 15, the AP reported.

Tesla said it is not aware of any claims, injuries or deaths related to the issue, Reuters reported.
