Grace has officially been cast to play Barbara Gordon in “Batgirl,” the stand-alone Warner Bros. and DC film, Variety reported.

The role is the second for Grace, who played Nina Rosario in Jon M. Chiu’s movie adaptation of Lin Manuel Miranda’s musical, “In the Heights,” ET Online reported.

“I am beyond excited to embody Barbara Gordon, your #Batgirl,” Grace tweeted.

Batgirl was introduced to television audiences in 1967 when Yvonne Craig played the daughter of Gotham City Police Commissioner Jim Gordon during the third season of the “Batman” series, Entertainment Weekly reported.

The character was originally introduced in 1961 in DC Comics as Betty Kane, but the character was revamped for television in the campy series that starred Adam West, the website reported.

Grace will be following some big names in the role of “Batgirl,” including Alicia Silverstone (”Batman & Robin”) and Rosario Gordon, who voiced the character in “The Lego Batman Movie,” Entertainment Weekly reported.

“Titans,” the HBO Max series, will introduce a Barbara Gordon character in the show’s third season, according to the website.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the filmmaking duo behind “Bad Boys for Life,” will direct “Batgirl,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Christina Hodson, whose credits include “Bumblebee” and “The Flash,” is writing the screenplay, the website reported.

Filming is expected to begin sometime in November, Variety reported. The film does not have a release date.
