Visit Jacksonville relaunching ‘Meet in Jax’ program to bring conventions, conferences to the area

With conferences and conventions slowly starting up again amid the coronavirus pandemic, Visit Jacksonville says it is relaunching its ‘Meet in Jax’ program.

“We want to help remind the citizens of Jacksonville that the best place for your group or association to hold your conference is right here in your own backyard,” says CEO Michael Corrigan.

He says Jacksonville is a second-tier convention market, which means that they offer a boutique-type service to groups that want to hold events here.

“You know, we’re focusing on groups that are some 250 to 350 people, but they come for two or three night conference-- that results in 500 to 800 [hotel] room nights. Our hotels and venues are offering very customized services to these moderately sized groups. We know that we can take really good care of them when they start making plans for a conference,” says Corrigan.

To get started planning a event, he recommends going to VisitJacksonville.com. Once you reach out to Visit Jacksonville, he says they can help you from idea to completion of your conference at no charge to the convention planner.

On a typical year, Jacksonville hosts about 400 conferences and conventions, according to Corrigan.
