ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — In a successful dive for underwater treasure on Wednesday, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office dive team had an opportunity to help a local citizen.

During monthly training the team received a request from an elderly gentleman. He needed help to recover his $16,000 family heirloom Rolex after the watch fell into 6 Mile Creek from a broken band.

The dive team thought this would be a perfect opportunity to put their training to the test while helping someone from the community.

Within 20 minutes, one of the divers popped up to the surface holding the Rolex. The watch was found in working condition in nearly 20 feet of water.

The owner of the watch was able to get his treasured possession back and the dive team put their skills to the test.
