Many more birthdays ahead for Railynn after finishing treatment before her 8th birthday

Jacksonville FL — Imagine finding out one day that your five-year-old, who’s weeks away from graduating from kindergarten, has cancer.

That was a reality for Railynn Frost’s mom Destiny. She says her daughter’s symptoms started out as a fever, unknown bruises and she was tired all the time. That’s when Destiney says they went to see Railynn’s pediatrician to get some blood work done.

“I got the phone call probably within the hour after we left the doctor’s office, and they told me to sit down, um, they didn’t have time for me to come back and that her white blood counts were super high and, uh, at that point, it looks like it indicates leukemia like cancers.” Destiny says.

After getting her daughter’s diagnosis, Destiny admits that it was hard. She also had a three-month-old to take care of and she was out of work for almost two years.

“The financial help that we received from the Child Cancer Fund was a blessing, um, because when you’re going through something like this you, your first fear, I mean your first want is to take care of your child obviously, but then you also have the worry of losing everything in the process.” Destiny says.

Today Railynn is now eight years old and about to turn nine. She was able to finish treatment right before her eighth birthday and is now a year off of treatment.

Her mom says she’s doing great.
