Lanes reopen on I-95 following deadly hit and run crash

Pedestrian killed near rest area north of CR-210.

Jacksonville, Fl — A deadly crash investigation crippled the morning rush hour on I-95 out of Duval County until around 9 am.

Florida Highway Patrol says a crash happened just after 4 am south of 9B near the rest area. A 71-year-old pedestrian began to cross the southbound lanes of I-95 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The driver did not stop, FHP said.

Traffic was heavy on the alternates including 9B, County Road 210 and U.S. 1.

An earlier crash with injuries had all eastbound lanes of I-10 blocked at the Baker/Duval County line, near U.S. 301 until around 8:30 am.
