On September 10th 2020 Bruce Springsteen announced new album.

The album “Letter To You” is set for release on October 23rd.

Looking at the track listing there are a couple songs that date back to before Bruce got his record deal.

Those songs are “Song For Orphans” and “If I Was The Priest”.

Then there is “Janey Needs A Shooter” which is a song Bruce started writing in the 70′s.

Then as Rolling Stone pointed out “Springsteen spent six years fiddling around with “Janey Needs a Shooter,” but he was never satisfied with the results. Warren Zevon fell in love with the title after hearing it from Springsteen manager Jon Landau, and he started writing his own version (with the name changed to Jeannie) – which Springsteen helped him finish. Springsteen’s own version remained unreleased.”

On BruceSpringsteen.net Bruce says of the album “I love the emotional nature of Letter To You,” says Bruce. “And I love the sound of the E Street Band playing completely live in the studio, in a way we’ve never done before, and with no overdubs. We made the album in only five days, and it turned out to be one of the greatest recording experiences I’ve ever had.”

Along with that Springsteen’s site says “Letter to You includes nine recently written Springsteen songs, as well as new recordings of three of his legendary, but previously unreleased, compositions from the 1970s. Produced by Ron Aniello with Bruce Springsteen, Letter To You is Bruce’s first time performing with the E Street Band since The River 2016 tour.”
