All around the World rock stars far and wide are memorialized in bronze in perpetuity. You can see a list of them here. Jimmy, John, Paul, George and Ringo, Lemmy, Phil, Freddy and many more have their likeness frozen in time for future generations to gaze upon. Here in Jacksonville we are the birthplace of Southern Rock and yet no place to pay our respects. I would love to see a monument to RVZ and/or Southern Rock as a whole. Maybe at Van Zant park? Maybe fishing which was one of Ronnie’s favorite pastimes. What about at the new stadium so that all who come to watch football can pay homage to one of our favorite sons? Mississippi has monument to the place where he and his friends died but, isn’t it time we celebrate where he lived?
