Kate Middleton is one of the world’s top style icons. So it was no surprise Tuesday when she chose a lovely light blue polka-dotted empire wasted dress to wear while debuting her new son with Prince William.
But unlike many of Kate’s other fashion choices, this frock won’t be available for sale to the general public.
British fashion house Jenny Packham designed the dress exclusively for Kate, and told Vanity Fair they have no plans to make it available for sale.
Kate’s well known for wearing affordable off-the-rack dresses and coats from such brands as Zara, Top Shop and Reiss. And whenever she steps out in public, the outfits she wears sell out from those brands immediately.
Per the Packham’s spokesman, they could not comment on whether or not they specifically designed the dress in baby boy blue, leaving the question did Kate know before the birth that she was having a son. They could only say they are not permitted to discuss how far in advance the gown was designed for the duchess — only that it is a full-on original.
