I would like to introduce myself and the Walk of Hope Foundation (WOHF). I am the Founder/President for the WOHF, established since November 2011 and an approved 501c3 non-profit public charitable organization. We currently are serving individuals in Northeast Florida with hopes on expanding to other states. The primary focus of our organization is to assist individuals with spinal cord injuries. Our organization’s mission is to enhance the quality of life of individuals experiencing medical or health challenges with paralysis. Also, we will provide resources to promote a healthy, productive, and safe lifestyle. Our organization will help support public or private organizations, scientists, and clinical trials on all research aimed to curing spinal cord injury related paralysis. Our organization was established and inspired by Carolin Coxwell, who was injured in a car accident on January 7, 2011, which resulted her to be confined to a wheelchair. Carolin’s determination to overcome her challenges and the will to one day walk again, fuels our passion in our efforts to help Carolin and others on making that dream come true. WOHF assisted Carolin to overcome the many challenges (physical, mental and spiritual) that she has endured. The strength Carolin garnered to overcome these challenges; she now focuses on mentoring others facing similar hardships. WOHF has been raising money since its inception to fund physical therapies and supplies for our recipients. We have gained new recipients whom we had the pleasure to assisting them as best as we can on a limited budget. Our organization continues to grow and thus our need for support. We rely on funds from government grants, public, private, and corporate contributions. One of our goals is to fund a qualified candidate to undergo a round of adult stem cell therapies along with intensive physical therapies to enable individuals to walk again. Operation C.U.R.E (Community United on Recovery Enhancements) is our organizations new grant program that will enable Carolin to be the first to receive a round of adult stem cell therapy in November. We are hoping for successful results that can take part on a recovery plan for all future recipients of our grant program. This grant program will also fund other disability needs for our recipients. WOHF’s true aim is getting all of our recipients back into a productive and independent lifestyle. Please support our mission by participating or sponsoring the Walk of Hope Foundation’s scheduled fundraiser events or directly donate on our website. All contributions are greatly appreciated which allows us to continue and expand our efforts while partnering with other organizations cause together we can impact an individuals life on “Overcoming Paralysis One Step at a Time".
