On July 4th, Our Country Day gets off to an early running start with the 5K marathon! Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the race starts at 8 a.m. Last year, the 5K featured over 50 runners. Arts, crafts, food and beverage vendors will be featured in the Keystone Heights downtown parks from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Live music will play throughout the day. Don’t miss Keystone’s other annual race, the baby crawl, which begins at 10 a.m. in Keystone’s Theme Park behind city hall.
The Our Country Day parade begins at 11 a.m., featuring fire trucks, marching units, floats, bicycles, Shriners, clowns, motorcycles, beauty queens, tractors, horses and many other surprises. Prizes are awarded for categories such as Closest to Theme, Commander’s Choice, Best Marching Unit and more!
At 1 p.m. join in on some sweet summer fun with our new event, a watermelon eating contest!
Fireworks will be at Keystone Beach Park again this year. Due to limited seating, visitors should arrive early. There will be live music by Wreckless and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Fireworks will begin at dusk, weather and burn ban permitting. Entry into the beach park will require each spectator to have an armband, available for $1 (children under 4 are free). There is a crowd limit of 4,000. Beginning June 15, pre-sale tickets will be available at City Hall, Mallards Dollarama, Genesis Fitness and Ace Hardware.
