"For The Kids 5K" is an early morning race that takes participants through the beautiful UF campus every spring. Over 700 members of the community and students register to enjoy the run and compete for prizes. KISS 105.3 plays music with a live broadcast, food donors contribute fruit and bagels, and students cheer at water stands every half mile to encourage participants. Police block off the roads and a professional timing system sponsors the race to ensure that accurate times and places of participants are kept.
Whether it is to enjoy a light walk or jog through campus with friends, get in shape for bathing suit season, or compete for a place in the race, participants leave the race feeling accomplished for finishing the run just blocks away from Shands Hospital for Children. This year's For the Kids 5K will take off at 8:30 AM, February 24th, from the Commuter Lot on UF campus.
