Take a tour of 3 sites and delve into the lives of the Gainesville settlers who came from South Carolina in the 1850s. Told on-site first at Historic Haile Homestead, then Kanapaha cemetery and finally the 1886 Kanapaha Presbyterian church. The narrated story includes several dramatic vignettes. Meet “Serena Haile”, who will read from her diary and “Rev. Wm. J. McCormick”, first pastor of the church. Learn about the enslaved laborers and freedmen.
