Location: Ustler Hall Atrium (2nd floor) Calendar: UF Calendar Contact: matthew.delvaux@ufl.edu - Matthew Delvaux Description: How Can We Rehumanize the University, Here and Now? is presented by: UF Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere The UF Center for the Humanities and the Public Sphere presents Harry Brighouse (University of Wisconsin-Madison) - How Can We Rehumanize the University, Here and Now? This event is free and open to the public, followed by a reception. Public universities are under increasing financial pressure and political scrutiny. There is a sense that they are disconnected from the needs of the public and from the needs of students. Prof. Brighouse will focuse on what divides university faculty from their students and the public, suggesting opportunities for institutional reform and practical change. Prof. Brighouse is a Professor of Philosophy and Affiliate Professor of Educational Policy Studies. His research has concentrated on subjects such as education, educational reform, childhood, and social justice. This talk is part of the Rehumanizing the University Series.
