Her past experience includes working in Fortune 500 companies such as IBM where she was director of Global Marketing for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and later became Director of Marketing for ibm.com responsible for not only marketing programs but for running 179 country sites. She has also worked in marketing and management at Metropolitan Life, McGraw-Hill, and Time Inc. In 2004 she was the marketing director for Pitney Bowes responsible for sales and marketing for the top 25 international customers.She’s also been a successful entrepreneur and co-founded a B2B dotcom called isolve.com, learning how to raise money from venture capitalists. She ran her own marketing consulting firm with clients ranging from IBM, Starwood Hotels, GE, to Air France, Descente America, and women’s travel companies. She began her career as a journalist in Boston and was appointed to the first ever Mayor’s Committee to improve the status of women. Barb is a baby boomer, caught in the sandwich generation, a gourmet cook, married to husband Pete and has two grown children; Jarod, a writer, and Jordan, a young autistic adult. She heads the Executive Leadership Council for Go Red for Westchester and Fairfield County, an organization dedicated to making women heart healthy and is on the Board of Directors of Westchester County’s Executive Women’s Council. She is a life coach and also mentors families with special needs children. She is an advocate for creating vocational training programs for young adults with autism.In her spare time she is writing a book and will be launching a blog in late 2013 based upon her experiences with women and attaining success. The working title is “Damn I’m Good!” which she explains in her lectures and speaking engagements about a boss and mentor who gave her a bracelot with those words on it to reinforce her self-esteem when she was a shy girl just starting her career. Karen Roberts, CLU, ChFC Her philosophy is simple: “Live for Today, Plan for Tomorrow!” Karen targets critical areas that challenge successful people such as retirement planning, business planning, and estate planning. She helps them take the necessary action and implement their plan by being persistent and thorough with all follow up work. When necessary she will escort clients to attorneys and accountants in helping coordinate their plan. Karen has 22 years of experience in the industry. She graduated from California State University, Northridge in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in economics. In 1997, she completed her studies through the American College and received the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter. In 2003, Karen also received the Chartered Financial Consultant designation from the American College. Karen is dedicated to the long term growth of the financial service industry. Active in many professional organizations, she builds on her knowledge and experience. Karen is currently serving as Immediate Past President of National association - Women in Insurance and Financial Services (WIFS), is a past president of the Gold Coast Chapter for WIFS, and past president of the Broward County Chapter of The Society of Financial Service Professionals. Karen is also active in the Boy Scouts of America and teaches the foster and adoptive parenting class through the Jewish Adoption and Foster Care agency. Karen and her husband Jim currently reside in Boca Raton, along with their four sons.
